Greetings and Welcome to the Global Digital Storytelling and Culture Museum

After many conversations with students and their expressing feelings of exclusion in the cultural and historical record, the idea for this project was born. This environment promotes a living space for students to not only learn more about Digital Storytelling but to work with faculty to research, develop and if selected exhibit their personal "digital story."

The Digital Storytelling and Culture Museum provides an open learning and teaching environment in which students with guidance from faculty can access resources, create and expand on projects that focus on Digital Storytelling. Projects that focus on social justice, racism, gender, historical construction of community and gentrification, local culture and history, oral history interviews are just some of the areas that can be developed for final presentation in our museum. However, the boundaries are fluid and can also provide infinite possibilities.

The environment allows students from different disciplines, different geographical areas and interests to chronicle their journey, develop a script and storyboard as they work to define and create their digital story. Through the use of digital and web 2.0 tools, students can discuss approaches and critique each other as they work on their project. At the completion of the project it will be evaluated and if selected the student will be invited to exhibit their work in the museum.

Central to this environment is the commitment to honor the cultural histories, the untold stories and traditions that are the essence of our global community.
